Does anyone remember The Telegraph in Church St. between The Portway and Plaistow Road ? I think it may have been demolished now, I used to live behind it and vividly rememeber a gangland killing there back in the mid eighties. Tried looking for information about what happened but no luck.

I should also mention this company are cut throat bastards of the highest order, and said board member currently sits a few seats away from David Gold at the OS, and used to regularly boast about sitting with Mark Noble at various 'charity' events that sounded more like corporate piss ups and networking opportunities. Was a bit of an eye opener to the current culture of the club.
Not a dig at Noble, who is presumably ordered to turn up to such things - before Fordy gets excited.

The Spotted Dog is a classic example of the way developers play the long game.
Supposedly the owner of the Black Lion is loaded and so presumably it's future depends on how long he wants to hold out. If he gives up I can't see it lasting much longer. Also, I happen to know he's loaded because a while back I had cause to have numerous conversations with a board member of an aggressive locally focused construction company who have been buying up bits of Plaistow,.Forest Gate etc recently like they are sweeties and making millions. This chap plaus golf with the owner of the Black supposedly.
Watch this space.

The Black Lion won't close, a few of us still go in there on game day and they have always had a steady evening trade

Yes I'm sure the people who lived in Newham and Tower Hamlets who moved out to Essex did plan it.

Move the community out. Closes all the pubs destroy the area. Sadly this effect is spreading out. Its not just inner London it's everywhere. Makes you wonder if it was all planned.

The Spotted Dog (Upton Lane) is listed but look whats happened to that.
As I said the Railway is to be the large hotel but the existing pub building is to stay.
This from the planning application:
"The proposals include the internal alteration of the main part of the Locally Listed building, whilst retaining it as a drinking establishment ....."
However, whether the hotel proprietors will allow approx 200 West Ham fans on matchdays as now will remain to be seen.
Shame if not, I like it in there.

I was there for that and the Ice cream van.
Green gate went as well. The daughter was superb in there - worked up canary wharf. Can never remember her name but she hated West Ham fans haha!
